Australian Student Visa Work Conditions: Changes Coming in July 2023! 🎓

 01:34:03  Wednesday June 14

Attention all international students in Australia! Starting from July 2023, there will be new work conditions based on the type of course you are studying. Whether you’re pursuing a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course, a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree by coursework, or a Research or Doctoral degree (PhD), here’s what you need to know:

Vocational Education and Training (VET) Course (e.g., Certificates, Diploma):

Main student visa holder: During course sessions, you can work up to 48 hours per fortnight. However, when there is no course in session, you have the freedom to work unlimited hours.

Dependant student visa holder: You are limited to working 48 hours per fortnight at all times.

Bachelor’s Degree:

Main student visa holder: When your course is in session, you can work up to 48 hours per fortnight. During breaks or when there is no course in session, you can work unlimited hours.

Dependant student visa holder: Similar to the main student visa holder, you are restricted to working 48 hours per fortnight at all times.

Master’s Degree by Coursework:

Main student visa holder: Throughout the course sessions, you are allowed to work up to 48 hours per fortnight. During non-course periods, such as breaks, you can work as many hours as you wish without any limitations.

Dependant student visa holder: For dependant student visa holders, there are no restrictions on working hours at any time.

Master’s Degree by Research or Doctoral Degree (PhD):

Main student visa holder: Congratulations! You have unrestricted working hours, which means you can work as much as you want at any time.

Dependant student visa holder: Just like the main student visa holder, you also have the freedom of unrestricted working hours.

Please note that these changes in work conditions are applicable to all student visa holders and their dependents. It’s important to adhere to the specific limitations mentioned to ensure compliance with your visa requirements.

Australia welcomes you to pursue your education while providing opportunities for part-time employment to support your studies and experience the vibrant Australian lifestyle. Enjoy your academic journey and the valuable work experiences that await you!
